Transforming a retro cabin into a cozy retreat—pink tubs, surprises, and all—so you can feel right at home in the heart of nature.
We had an appointment this morning to reglaze the upstairs bathroom tub—yes, that pink tub straight out of the era it was installed. And let’s not forget its matching pink toilet, now officially retired. Progress! Walking into the cabin, we were thrilled to see two chandeliers installed, adding a touch of charm. Eight doors have been removed (goodbye creaky old wood!), and one shiny new door is now proudly hanging in the main bedroom.
Meanwhile, the kitchen countertops have been ripped out, and as with any renovation, the demo stage is both thrilling and mildly panic-inducing. But don’t worry—it’s all for you, our future guests! We’re transforming the space to make it as cozy and modern as you’d expect for the ultimate cabin getaway.
Along the way, we’re learning a ton. For example, we initially hesitated to add a ceiling fan because we loved the look of the vaulted ceilings. But as we found out, a fan is essential—especially in winter. Turns out, all that toasty heat from the wood-burning fireplace and baseboards likes to rise, leaving your feet feeling like they’re in Antarctica. So, the wires are pulled, a bit of wall was sacrificed, and a fan is coming soon to keep your toes as warm as your marshmallow-roasting hands.
Elsewhere, we’re tackling patchwork in the bedrooms and finally adding ceiling lights for that perfect mix of ambiance and practicality. And today? The carpet is coming out. Who knows what treasures (or terrors) lie beneath those fibers?
Here’s a sneak peek of our progress so far. It’s messy, it’s chaotic, but it’s all part of the journey to create the perfect retreat for you. We can’t wait for you to enjoy the finished product!

As we tackled more of the renovation, we couldn’t resist rolling up our sleeves and getting hands-on. Down came the vertical blinds, the dated drapes, and even the sliding glass doors from the upstairs bathroom—all part of prepping for the reglazing. Each room feels like a blank canvas as we remove remnants of the past, like the old medicine cabinet and leftover pictures. It’s cathartic, stripping away layers of history to make space for fresh beginnings. We can only imagine the memories that were created here before, and we’re excited to transform this space for many more to come. Of course, no reno is without its surprises—like the bathroom tiles crumbling after we pulled the old toilet. So, it’s off to the store for a wood-look tile that will complement the crisp white tub, vanity, and our chosen paint palette. Speaking of colors, we’re even second-guessing the soft gray for the upstairs bedroom—maybe lilac would add a touch of charm? What do you think? Share your ideas—we’d love to hear!
