Renovations test your patience and stretch your limits, but the vision of the finished space keeps your heart inspired and your hands moving forward
Today was another exciting step in our cabin renovation adventure! We started by delivering the new tiles for the upstairs bathroom—out with the old, in with the fresh and fabulous. The carpet has been removed, the fireplace tiles are gone, and the laminate kitchen flooring has been lifted, bundled, and tossed. It’s a clean slate! The new flooring is set to be installed Monday and Tuesday next week, and we can’t wait to see it transform the space.
On the electrical front, progress is sparking! Some of the new switches and outlets have been installed, giving us a sneak peek of the modern functionality we’ve been dreaming about. And while it’s hard to visualize the finished product right now, we’re crossing our fingers that all our design choices come together as beautifully as we hope.
Meanwhile, the ceiling lights for the bedrooms have arrived and are already stationed in their future homes, waiting for the ceilings to be painted. Oh, and we had a classic cabin moment today: stepping outside, we caught a glimpse of white-tailed deer nibbling on berries in the snow. It wouldn’t be a true cabin experience without these magical moments with nature reminding us why we fell in love with this place in the first place.
We also tackled window screens, removing them from the main floor windows. Rescreening is now officially a spring project, waiting for warmer weather to roll around. Kitchen cabinet hardware is next on the to-do list, though we’re giving ourselves another week before we start wandering the hardware store aisles for inspiration.
