Stewart’s Folly isn’t just a Poconos Airbnb—it’s a sanctuary where nature whispers its wisdom, memories warm the hearth, and every moment invites you to reconnect with what truly matters.
When my wife Jen and I welcomed you to Stewart’s Folly in our first blog post, we shared the heartfelt story behind our cabin’s name. Stewart’s Folly is more than just a cozy Poconos Airbnb; it is a tribute to my Dad’s adventurous spirit and his deep love for nature. One year ago today, my father passed, and in honor of his life, we want to take a moment to share more about the incredible person he was. Naming the cabin was Jen’s idea, a way to honor a man whose life was dedicated to uncovering hidden treasures, whether in real estate or the natural world.
My Dad was a pioneer in his own right. He had a knack for spotting potential in things others overlooked. Much like Seward’s purchase of Alaska—a decision initially ridiculed but later celebrated—my father saw value where others saw obstacles. From transforming old homes and apartment buildings into vibrant spaces to building a thriving dress business started by my grandparents, his labor of love was always about breathing life into forgotten places.
But beyond his entrepreneurial ventures, my Dad cherished the serenity of nature. He built a home in the woods on the Bay of Quinte in Ontario, Canada, a place where he found solace among deer, foxes, rabbits, and blue herons. He loved chopping wood, tending to the land, and spending quiet evenings by the fireside. Those moments became our sacred time together. On every special occasion, he would recite poetry by the fire, his voice carrying the lyrical ballads of William Wordsworth, Coleridge, and Southey. One of his favorite poems, I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud by Wordsworth, resonates deeply with me today:
“I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o’er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.”
These words capture my Dad’s reverence for nature and its transformative power. He taught me to see the beauty in the stillness of the woods, the songs of birds, and the whispers of the wind. Stewart’s Folly is our way of sharing that sense of wonder with you.
The Cabin Experience: Where Nature and Nostalgia Meet
Our cabin, nestled in the heart of the Poconos, offers a retreat from the hustle of everyday life. Stewart’s Folly is more than just a Poconos cabin rental; it’s a space where you can slow down, reconnect with nature, and create lasting memories with loved ones.
Inside, you’ll find a blend of modern comfort and rustic charm, carefully designed to honor my Dad’s legacy. The warmth of the wood-burning fireplace invites you to gather for meaningful conversations or simply sit in silence, letting the flames dance in the hearth. Each room is a reflection of his adventurous spirit and love for poetry, with cozy corners for reading and relaxing.
Step outside, and you’ll discover the same magic my Dad found in nature. The property is home to deer grazing in the early morning light, rabbits hopping along the trails, and a symphony of birdsong that greets you at dawn. Whether you’re sipping coffee on the deck, hiking nearby trails, or simply sitting by the fire pit under a starlit sky, you’ll feel a sense of peace that only nature can provide.
Reconnect, Reflect, and Rejuvenate in our Poconos Airbnb
At Stewart’s Folly, we hope to offer more than just a place to stay. We want you to experience the joy of slowing down and connecting with what truly matters. Take a moment to reflect, to dream, and to create memories that will stay with you long after you leave.
This cabin is a celebration of my Dad’s life and the lessons he left behind. It’s a place to honor his love for nature, his passion for uncovering beauty in unlikely places, and his belief in the transformative power of the simple things—like a roaring fire, a quiet walk, or the perfect line of poetry.

In loving memory of my father, Stewart, we named our Poconos cabin in his honor. Stewart received the Hastings Manor award as a Hastings Hero, celebrated for his extraordinary empathy and kindness. It’s a tribute to the legacy of love and care he left behind, and every corner of our cabin reflects the warmth and generosity he embodied throughout his life.
