Big Bass Lake Cabin Rental: Final Touches and Patience

In every finishing touch, we’re crafting more than a cabin—we’re shaping a haven where comfort, care, and lasting memories take root.

Big Bass Lake Cabin Rental: Enhancing Every Detail

We are nearing the end of our renovation journey, but small details remain on our to-do list. Our general contractor, Eddie, has been wonderful but occasionally needs to shift his focus to other jobs. We’re grateful for his expertise and willingness to help beyond our original agreement. He has guided us and often said, “Don’t worry, I’ll take care of it.” We can’t thank him enough for his dedication to this Big Bass Lake cabin rental project. Still, finishing touches are taking longer than expected.

Discovering Unexpected Art in the Mudroom

We visited the cabin yesterday to tackle painting tasks and general cleanup. I planned to paint the mudroom. also a laundry room, which sit right off the kitchen. At first, I thought the walls had old wallpaper. Past experiences with wallpaper suggested using an oil-based primer for painting over it. We discovered that the walls weren’t wallpapered at all. They were actually hand-painted by the previous owner, who loved adding artistic details.

The walls featured gold and green brush strokes, forming a personal mural in this functional space. We had already purchased oil-based primer, so we moved forward with that plan anyway. Working with oil-based primer can be difficult due to strong fumes and limited ventilation. We took breaks when the smell overwhelmed us, especially since it was too cold to open windows. Still, we made progress and prepared the area for a final coat of latex paint. We hope to finish painting in the next few days.

Tackling Last-Minute Repairs and Upgrades

We also tackled paint touch-ups throughout the cabin, though we didn’t complete them all. Another trip is on the agenda to finalize every area that needs attention. Eddie’s team discovered a small leak under the newly installed kitchen sink. They plan to fix that issue in the coming week, before we move in. Meanwhile, our butcher block countertops we sealed ourselves were installed. We love how they look and can’t wait for everyone to see them.

Final electrical work is happening now, including covering the outlets and switches. Upstairs, the bathroom vanity, toilet, and sink are finally in place. We had to order special parts for the older bathtub hardware. Those parts arrive this week, ensuring we can replace the outdated faucets. We also installed a threshold transition from the hallway into the bathroom. It’s a small detail but adds a polished finish to the space.

On the main floor, the new bathroom vanity is now installed. The old unit was in rough shape, so this upgrade feels significant. We kept the costs low but achieved a modernized look. Eddie generously installed it at no additional charge. His help saved us both time and money. We appreciate his willingness to make this cabin a true haven.

Transforming It into a Cozy Poconos Cabin Retreat

The biggest news is our planned move date at the end of February. We’re ready to shift from renovations to actually enjoying the space. In early March, we’ll have our first overnight stay at the cabin. We can’t wait to experience the atmosphere we’ve worked so hard to create. Furnished photos will follow, showing the full before-and-after transformation. This big bass lake cabin rental is almost ready for guests.

We want your input on items that might enhance your stay. Is there something you wish every host provided but rarely find? Let us know, and we’ll add it to our amenity list. We believe small comforts make a big difference in any getaway. Your feedback helps us create a truly cozy Poconos cabin retreat for relaxation and fun. We want this cabin to be your home away from home.

We appreciate you joining us on our journey as we navigate the final stages of this renovation. Each task, no matter how small, brings us closer to a finished cabin. We value your support and can’t wait to open our doors to you. Stay tuned for more updates on this journey of transformation and discovery.
