Last week, my wife and I stepped away to attend an industry conference. Although we didn’t make it to our cozy mountain retreat, the break filled us with fresh energy and new ideas. We reconnected with old friends and warmly welcomed new ones at the trade show.
Back at the cabin, Eddie and his team made wonderful progress. They completed the lower deck railings with care and attention. We now meet all the safety codes for our guests. We hired That1Painter to fix our kitchen cabinets. The cabinets had been chipping due to poor preparation. That1Painter re-sanded every surface. They applied new cabinet paint and two coats of shellac ensuring long-lasting durability. The outcome exceeded our expectations. This serves as a lesson for any DIYer. And for us too! The painter we originally hired skipped proper prep work—lesson learned! Always hire an experienced professional who knows the importance of preparation, or take the time to educate yourself by watching tutorials from pros on YouTube. Prep work is key to a flawless finish!
We’ve installed a new toilet in the lower main bathroom, giving the space a much-needed modern upgrade and finally saying goodbye to its seventies vibe. While we’ve stayed in cabins with vintage charm—complete with original appliances and fixtures straight out of the 70s—we wanted to offer more. With every update, we focus on enhancing guest comfort to create a fresh, inviting, and relaxing experience.
Pocono Mountains Cabin Rental: Interior Touch-Ups and Final Deliveries
We revealed our kitchen in its current, messy state. Construction details are still visible but this is getting cleaned up before we move in. We’ve added about 40 interior railings along the stairs and across the loft—each one cut to size and painted. I spent some time touching up a few of them today and felt a sense of final progress. Once I’m staying at the cabin and setting up the furniture, I’ll tackle the final touch-ups. It’s all coming together, and we can’t wait to see the finished space!
Our final appliance delivery is scheduled for Monday! We made the most of every Black Friday sale and promotion, and now the washer and dryer are on their way. Soon, you’ll be able to enjoy the convenience of on-site laundry during your stay.

Our moving date is set for the week of February 17th, and I’m excited to share that I’ll be staying at the cabin during that time. Meanwhile, Jen will be off at another conference in Oklahoma. Even though our calendars are full, our dedication to the cabin remains as strong as ever.
I’m also incredibly grateful to our dear friend Colleen. She’s kindly offered to look after our home while we’re away. To us, Colleen is family. Cozy Mountain Retreat: Deep Cleaning, Furniture Assembly, and Progress
We are preparing for a deep clean of the cabin this week. This cleaning will help us start fresh. We plan to assemble beds and furniture soon. Each step brings us closer to our dream. And while the winter weather is holding us back from doing most of the exterior work, we’ve grateful for having this opportunity to be close to nature.
