We know it’s been a little while since our last update, but that doesn’t mean we haven’t been busy! Our days have been filled with assembling furniture, decorating, and making sure everything is just right for our guests. The good news? We’re almost there!
Bringing Stewart’s Folly to Life
We’ve been at the cabin almost every day, putting together beds and furniture room by room. At one point, it felt like we’d never escape the endless pile of tools—screwdrivers, Allen keys, drills, and an overwhelming number of dresser parts! If you’ve ever built furniture, you know the inevitable moment when you realize you installed something backwards. Yep, it happened to us too! But with a deep breath (and maybe a laugh), we worked backwards and got it right.
Overall, our planning has worked out beautifully, but we did have one unexpected hiccup. We ordered 12-inch firm mattresses for our daybed, got everything set up, and then realized—oops! The trundle bed underneath lifted the daybed’s legs off the floor! We had no choice but to order an 8-inch mattress so everything would roll into place properly. Lesson learned—always double-check those specifications!

Yesterday, we made a final list of the small things we still need to complete the cabin. Just as we pulled into the driveway, something incredible happened—a doe walked into our front yard and lay down just 15 yards in front of us.
We sat quietly in the car, watching her in awe. Within minutes, several more deer, including a buck, joined her. It was one of those moments where time slows down, and nature reminds you why places like the Pocono Mountains rentals are so special. We felt like the deer were welcoming us home.
That moment of peace and beauty reminded us why we created this retreat. We want our guests to experience these moments too—the ones that make you pause, breathe, and appreciate the simple joys of nature and wildlife.
